Terephthalic Acid (PTA) CAS 100-21-0
PTA is a white crystal or powder with the chemical formula C₈H₆O₄, a density of 1.55g/cm³, and a melting point ranging from 384 to 421 ¡ã C. It is slightly toxic and flammable, slightly soluble in hot ethanol, and insoluble in water. PTA is mainly produced by oxidizing para-xylene and is a key raw material for the production of polyester fibers, plastics and films.
